Kendall & Ranger are two best friends who have been together their whole lives. Kendall is a pure Golden who is 12 years old and Ranger is her "adopted brother" who is also 12. They are both loveable, laid back, crate trained and get along with other dogs and cats. Ranger has tested heart worm positive but is currently not exhibiting any health problems. These two are looking for a home together without stairs.
Check out this video of Kendall & Ranger enjoying some quality time with their foster parents!

Golden Girls In Baltimore
We are all doing very well together as a new family. Our new parents say they fall more and more in love with us every day. They call us "Hyper-Hannah" and "Mellow-Maggie" because we have such unique personalities. They fear they are spoiling us rotten but we've assured them that this is not a problem to be worried about!
Thanks, AGA, for helping us find our forever home and for going the extra mile (er, miles and miles) to get us there.

September Orphan of the Month - Kolada
Our September Orphan of the Month, Kolada, is a four-year-old purebred female Great Pyrenees. She was brought to Adopt A Golden Atlanta after her owner passed away. While this is a very confusing time for a dog, Kolada is adjusting very well at her foster home. She plays well with other dogs and cats and loves to chase tennis balls. She is quite the cuddler - just looking for a family to make happy.
Watch Kolada in our Orphan of the Month video while she hangs out with her foster brother, Mulligan.

Have a Plan for Your Pet
The video below from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) is about being prepared for disasters. This is especially important for Georgians near the coast during hurricane season. Have a plan for your family and pets when bad weather threatens your area.
You may recognize the Golden at the end of the video. That's Hobbs, a former AGA Golden who was adopted last year. He certainly steals the show!

Marley Mae After Three Years!
This is Marley, Marley Mae to be exact. I can't believe it has been almost three years since I was adopted. You may not recognize me since I lost 40 pounds! I look pretty good if I say so myself! I have been very busy. My Forever Dad takes me on trips in the RV, and every winter we go to Florida where I spend my time chasing lizards and armadillos. We have been to South Dakota where I chased the prairie dogs, and last summer we were on an island in the middle of Lake Erie. WOW! Was that ever an adventure! In between all my trips, I share my home, toys, and my Forever Dad with orphans from Adopt A Golden Atlanta. I have helped 15 orphans on their way to their forever homes. I tell them how sad it was for me, being locked in a basement with a doggie door to go outside and a big bag of food to eat all I wanted. No wonder I was fat! No one loved me. They see how happy I am now, and I tell them they will be just as happy! Here is a picture of me laying in the cool green grass in the shade enjoying a sunny afternoon. Life is good!!!!

Thanks for the love, Johnny Cash
I am very, very sad to report that Johnny Cash has crossed the rainbow bridge. The decision was made with a very heavy heart. Johnny developed very painful arthritis, went deaf, went partially blind, and was often very confused.
He was the best thing that could ever happen to Payton and me. He made us laugh a million times, was there for a million snuggles, and life just seems empty without him. I can't log onto my computer without thinking of all the laptop power cords he tried to chew through. I can't walk into my closet without looking at my pair of old boots that he proudly would carry around the house and gnaw on. His tail could knock a table clear over. He was our permanent vacuum during supper. He was the watch dog on all nights, except those terrible thunderstorm nights. He kept us safe and made us smile. We are better people because of him.
Towards the end our daily walks got shorter and slower. Car rides weren't near as much fun as they had been for him. On our last walk yesterday, we walked very slowly and I talked to him about what a life saver he was to me. When we got to the vet, Johnny climbed into my lap, laid his head down, and slowly started to breathe shallow breaths. He was telling me "Mom, I am ready". He was ready to go chase the tennis balls my husband will throw in Heaven to him.
Thank you for bringing Johnny Cash into our lives. We are better people because of him.

July Orphan of the Month - Zeus
Zeus is an 11-year-old male Golden Retreiver who found his way to Adopt A Golden after his owner passed away. He was well cared for and loved and it certainly shows through his great manners. Zeus is good with cats and other dogs. He deserves a great forever home!

June Orphan of the Month - Buster
Our June Orphan of the Month, Buster, is a five-year-old Great Pyrenees with a big heart. He lived his whole life with a family who had to move out of their home into an apartment and the big guy couldn't go with them. He has been treated for heart worms and is gaining weight. He loves going on walks around the neighborhood with his foster and knows to heel. Buster pants and paces during storms but just needs to not feel confined when the thunder rolls. Crates would not be a good thing for this big guy. Visit our website for more information.

Happy Memorial Day from Adopt A Golden Atlanta!
Live simply.Love generously.Care deeply.Speak kindly.Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.Take naps.Stretch before rising.Run, romp, and play daily.Thrive on attention and let people touch you.Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass. On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree. When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.Be loyal.Never pretend to be something you're not.If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it..When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!
